A view of Salthill Promenade with the former Waterfront Hotel visible just behind the parked jeep.
The former Eglington hotel (which now serves as a hostel) surrounded by floodwater
A view of the former Waterfront Hotel in Salthill (which is now used as rental apartments, I think). The underground carpark flooded during the January 2014 storm, but the sandbags looked to be protecting it this time.
The Atlantic came right up to Lonergan's door this morning. The pub in Salthill looked to have survived the storm - the floodwater did not look to be too high outside the building.
The entrance to the car park on Salthill Promenade. There weren't any cars in it, which was just as well, because it became a lake at high tide.
Waves washing over the Promenade as a council truck drives by - the Council were out in full force with sandbags, etc to minimize damage where possible.
Waves washing over the Promenade - you couldn't go for a walk along the Promenade this morning.
