There is an office and development that overlooks the Galway Canal Basin. At high tide, the water came right to the doors of the ground floor offices, but I'm not sure if the water entered the building. In the foreground, the canal has flooded out onto the street.
Christmas Day 2009 in Carrick-on-Shannon, the county town of Co. Leitrim. The photograph shows the avenue of trees on either side of the Dublin road (N4) covered in frost and snow taken on the morning - by late afternoon, the white had disappeared as the rain arrived. My recollection of the day is that the temperature rose from around -7C in early morning to just above zero by evening - a huge swing in temperature.
